Should I Transcribe My Show Notes?

Dave Jackson

There are two schools of thought on using transcriptions for your show note.

1. You can use a tool like SurferSEO and it will grade your post and give you suggestions (Yoast is an SEO GOD). Be careful, remember humans are reading this, not bots. Google doesn't buy anything - people do.

2. Write insightful helpful show notes for humans. Pat Flynn, Michael Hyatt, Jeff Goins. All these top bloggers write posts for people by people. The Yoast SEO plugin recommends at least 300 words.

3. Transcriptions put lots of words on pages for Google to find. The question is when someone finds your website, are they going to stay? Are transcriptions something someone will stay on your site and read or go "yuk" and click away? This counts as a "bounce" and actually hurts your google score. I personally (just an opinion) do not care for transcripts for "Show notes." I use them for editing, and for finding pull quotes.

Here are a few of transcription tools that not only transcribe but help

CastMagic

First up is Cast Magic, offering a $39 per month plan for 200 minutes of usage. However, a lifetime deal for the same price is currently available on AppSumo. Cast Magic provides impressive services such as transcription, title generation, keyword suggestions, time-stamped overviews, discussion questions, and even clip finders. It also offers Magic Chat, allowing you to generate content based on your transcriptions.

SwellAI

Swell AI, starts at $29 per month for five hours of usage. Swell AI generates show notes, transcripts, articles, summaries, and social media posts. It also includes a feature called Swell Chat, similar to Chat GPT, where you can ask questions and receive AI-generated responses. Swell AI supports over 100 languages, making it a valuable tool for translation purposes.

PodSqueeze

Pod Squeeze offers a free account for 50 minutes of podcasting each month, making it suitable for short-form shows. With the paid plan starting at $15 per month for 160 minutes, Pod Squeeze generates show notes, timestamps, newsletters, and more. The platform supports various languages, making it ideal for multilingual podcasters.

Clean Voice - AI Editor

Clean Voice, based in the UK, utilizes AI to remove filler words, stutters, background noise, and mouth noises. It also offers podcast mixing and transcription services. Pricing starts at 10 euros (approximately $11) per month. Clean Voice's AI-powered cleanup can save time for podcasters who prefer writing but require assistance with audio editing.

Capsho

Capsho is original in this space. It's a little more than the others, but it has some additional features.
